The Big Green Egg is so much more than a barbecue. In fact we like to think of it as an ‘Aga-cue’. Open the egg, open your mind and open your food horizons.
At The Belmont Estate we are still rather excited to be the local Bristol and North Somerset representatives of the Egg. Having ourselves been totally captivated by the delicious variety of succulent, flavoursome food produced by the egg, we are seriously passionate about spreading the word of this food revolution.
The Egg is about passion for outdoor cooking, natural food and truly great experiences with friends. We offer Big Green Egg courses, events and demonstration days to help teach (and learn) the truly remarkable things that can be cooked in The Egg – they are about enjoyment of amazing natural foods and flavours, creativity and friendships. Contact us if you would like to learn more or book one of our Big Green Egg Events or Courses.
Sear, grill, roast, smoke, and even bake using the Big Green Egg! As so many cooking styles are possible using the Big Green Egg, there’s no end to the recipes you can create and the fun you can have! There is also a wide variety of accessories available to enable everything from pizzas (an absolute must try) and specialist BBQ meat cuts, right through to cakes and even chocolate brownies.
The ceramic design of the egg is a modern incarnation of a type of cooking that goes back thousands of years and which ensures heat and moisture are retained while cooking. The result is juicy, tender and mouth-wateringly moist and succulent food that draws out intense and rich flavours. We especially love using the smoking planks that gently steam as they heat, releasing moisture and infusing flavour whilst protecting food from the direct heat of Big Green Egg charcoal.
Quick start, easy to use and simple to clean. Unlike other barbecues that take 45 minutes to reach the appropriate temperature to cook, the Big Green Egg is ready in a third of that time. Using our Belmont natural sustainable charcoal (perhaps accompanied by Big Green Egg fire starters), the Big Green Egg is ready to cook in fifteen minutes.
A single fire starter placed at the centre of the coals will burn at an extremely high temperature for ten minutes until the core mass of charcoal glows hot; five more minutes with the dome closed and the vents open and you’re ready to cook. Simple! When you’re done, the egg is easily cleaned by wiping or brushing away any grease without the need for any chemical cleaners. Inside, residual heat burns away any grease build-up – just like a self-cleaning oven.
Let’s be honest, the Big Green Egg is a statement, with its signature green colouring and iconic design, it’s the talking point of any back garden. It’s perfect for entertaining family and friends come rain or shine, at any time of the year (we’ve even cooked our Christmas turkey on it!). It is available in five different sizes so there’s an egg to suit all needs (find the right egg for you here).
Using convection, conduction and radiant heat, the egg creates a perfectly controlled outdoor cooking environment. With its patented air control design the egg has a temperature control system, which rivals many high spec indoor ovens.
Its overall design is a blend of ancient wisdom, modern technology and exclusive processes, which has resulted in a superior product that is stronger, more durable and provides better heat insulation than any other outdoor cooker on the market.
Highly praised and used by many Michelin star chefs both in their professional kitchens and at home, the Big Green Egg is the number one Kamado style cooker trusted by the professionals. Heston Blumenthal, Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver (to name drop a few!) all regard the egg as a key piece of equipment.
With 45 years’ worth of happy and devoted customers, the Big Green Egg has certainly earned its cult status as ‘the ultimate cooking experience’. In line with its heritage, each egg comes with a lifetime guarantee.

The one drawback of the Egg is that it’s not something that you lift effortlessly out of a box and switch on. It’s a serious piece of kit that is astonishingly heavy and, in its standard delivery, needs assembly on arrival.
While some see this as a disadvantage, we see it differently. Our ‘white glove installation service’ is more than about building a flat pack egg. The cost of the package is £180 and it includes:
